Corrective Action Request (CAR)

Purpose

Corrective Action Requests (CAR) module is the system of record for CAR creation, processing and data storage for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). CARs are submitted when a contractual deficiency or non-compliance is identified and reported to the contractor. A CAR letter is sent to the contractor as an official notification that a contractor may be required to take corrective action. A CAR may also be used to identify discrepancies that are not tied to a specific contract but found in the contractor’s business system, vendor process failure or a failed audit.

Implementation

In support of DFARS 213.106, the CAR module data is fed to the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) AIS and used as part of the Department of Defense (DoD) Supplier and Product Performance Information (SPPI) risk analysis criteria.

Documenting and processing a contractual performance deficiency is accomplished using the CAR process as described by Service or Agency instructions. CAR data is reported to the Product Data Reporting and Evaluation Program’s Automated Information System (PDREP-AIS) making the data available in the CAR Module to share with other authorized personnel. This data may be used when conducting contractual oversight functions and in accordance with FAR 46.5 requirements.

Report Retrieval

Authorized users may retrieve CAR data using multiple different methods depending upon their CAR access level. Pulling data from either the Ad hoc module or the CAR worklist allows any user role to download a copy of reports as an Excel spreadsheet to filter data or create charts, graphs or even a pivot table from the data elements. See the CAR and ADHOC user guides for more information.
